MISSION STATEMENT

• The calling and purpose of the Synodical Witness Forum, a joint ministry of the Northern and Eastern Synods of the NG Kerk (Dutch Reformed Church) and the Northern Synod of URCSA (Uniting Reformed Church in South Africa), in the context of our shared faith in the triune God and a shared vision of the kingdom of God, is to partake in God’s mission in the world, proclaiming and spreading the good news about Jesus Christ in our area, in dependance upon the Holy Spirit, aimed at the salvation and healing of people, while we expect the second coming of Christ and the restoration of all creation.

• The Synodical Witness Forum is specifically mandated by the partaking synods to promote and facilitate the church’s calling to diaconal service, public witness and reconciliation through a new style of joint service and witness between congregations of the two churches.

• This objective is initiated and operationalised through the formation of joint witness forums at the local level where good relations can be established between congregations and members of the two churches, mutual ministry support and –enrichment can take place and joint outreach projects into the community can be undertaken on the basis of joint ownership.
